The All-American Rejects have been steadily increasing in popularity since entering the pop scene in 2001. The band, which is known for hits like ‘Swing, Swing,’ ‘Dirty Little Secret,’ and ‘Move Along,’ has made numerous live appearances on MTV including a New Year’s Eve special and a performance at Spring Break ‘07 in Panama City Beach. The band’s front man, Tyson Ritter, has even paired up with Laguna Beach’s Stephen Colletti for MTV’s ‘Stephen and Tyson’s 24 Hour Spring Breakout.’

Career

The group All American Rejects was formed in early 2000 by lead vocalist/bass player Tyson Ritter and guitarist Nick Wheeler from a small town in Oklahoma called Stillwater. As a duo, the boys started recording songs and playing at local clubs in the area. Their motive was to create well-written, fun to listen to rock songs fused with modern power-pop music and electro drum loops. The sound of the band was established further through necessity of using loop tracks live.

The first self-released debut entitled "Securing Spins", originated from building popularity by performing anywhere they could, which eventually gained them a massive local fan base. The album attracted national radio and press exposure, which started them on their way to larger opportunities. A big step for breaking through as a known group was when they licensed their music to the teen scandalous MTV show Undressed.

Through their new found success with MTV, the group pushed out their second release in the summer of 2001 entitled "Same Girl". This EP release scored the group a tour throughout the Midwest, and eventually got them signed by Doghouse Records, which featured bands like The Get up Kids and River City High.

The following year, the group released their self-titled international debut album with producer Tim O’Heir, who has produced bands such as Superdrag and SamIAm in Brooklyn, New York. On this album the group gained more and more coverage by filming their first music video for the single “Swing, Swing.

Moving Along…

After several years of touring, The All American Rejects signed a major deal with Interscope Records in 2005 with the release of "Move Along." During this time, they added members Mike Kennerty as their second guitarist and Chris Gaylor on drums. This album featuring the title track “Move Along,” scored the group their first to be recognized Platinum hit by the RIAA. The single “Move Along” also won them an MTV Video Music Award for “Best Group Video” of 2006. The album also featured the singles “Dirty little Secret,” “On top of the world,” and the power rock ballad, “It ends tonight,” allowing the record to hit a Platinum high and sell over 10 million copies world-wide. The group plans to release their second record through Interscope in late 2008.
