Maria Menounos, a former beauty pageant queen, hails from Massachusetts and can be seen on the NBC shows ‘Today’ and ‘Access Hollywood.’ Maria first tasted success as a reporter for the Channel One News at her alma mater Emerson College in Boston. She was spotted by the show ‘Entertainment Tonight’ and joined the team as a correspondent. From there Hollywood knew Maria, and her acting career took off with appearances on NBC’s ‘Scrubs’ CBS’s “Without a Trace’ and the CW’s ‘One Tree Hill,’ and a role in the movie ‘Fantastic Four.’ Maria’s first starring gig in a movie was the 2007 release ‘Kickin’ It Old Skool’ with Jamie Kennedy. Miss Menounos joined Spring Breakers in 2007 in Cancun .
Popular awards
Menounos has appeared in magazines such as FHM and People as being voted one of the “50 Most Beautiful People.” Askmen.com voted Maria in the top five of girls a guy would want to marry, alongside big names like Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, and Jessica Alba. She was also voted Spike TV’s “Cyber Vixen of the Year” at their video game awards.
Charity work
After reporting on the devastating effects of the AIDS crisis in South Africa, she was inspired to create “Take Action Hollywood!” or “TAH!”, which is a charity that utilizes the power of the entertainment industry and the medium of film to affect for positive social change. Maria also created a national, annual competition where awards are given to teens that do the most work to better their communities, which is called the Cosmo Girl Cup.
