Lloyd Banks

  • StudentCity.com Appearances:
  • (Cancun '05) Performed at The City with 50 Cent

Christopher Lloyd, more commonly known as Lloyd Banks, is a hop hop artist born and raised in the Jamaica section of Queens. Raised by his mother, Lloyd had a difficult childhood and began writing "ghetto-poetry" at an early age to express his emotions. After joining forces with his long time childhood friend Tony Yayo, Banks stayed at home rapping around the neighborhood to further increase his buzz on the streets, while Yayo went with 50 Cent to the Nas Promo Tour, the Cash Money Tour and the Ruff Ryders Tour. Banks then hooked up with neighborhood producers and made tracks for local mixtapes, which had given him a solid reputation on the mixtape scene.

Later, 50 Cent was soon granted his own record label by Dr. Dre and released the album “Get Rich or Die Tryin'”, where Lloyd Banks was featured on the song "Don't Push Me". Soon after the group had established their own record label, G-Unit Records, G-Unit released their first official group album “Beg for Mercy” in November of 2003, which went on to be certified 2X Platinum. Since Banks was signed, he has since worked with artists such as 50 Cent, The Game , Eminem, Fabolous, and Young Buck. He became 2004’s Mixtape Artist of the Year at the Mixtape Awards. Banks’ success has continued, spending the last few years touring the world, even making appearances with 50 Cent at our celebrity Spring Break events in Cancun.
