Born Clifford Smith in Staten Island, NY, Method Man’s hip hop superstardom didn’t come easily. Splitting his childhood time between his mother in Staten Island and his father in Long Island, he was unfortunately drawn to a life of drug dealing and low-paying jobs. Eventually he broke his bad habits and formed the Wu-Tang Clan with a number of his friends. Of the group’s members, Method is one of the few to launch a successful solo career. His first release from label Def Jam was an instant success, and he’s since worked with the A-list of the music industry including Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, D'Angelo, Chris Rock, Mobb Deep, Genuine, ODB, Lauren Hill and Fat Joe. Since his start, Method’s gone on to appear in a number of movies like Belly, 187, How High, The Wire, and Soul Plane.
