The name needs no introduction. Paris Hilton, heiress to the Hilton Hotel fortune, is an American socialite, singer, actress, fashion model, and author. Paris spent her childhood moving between several exclusive homes with her 3 other siblings. She has appeared in every season of the reality television show ‘The Simple Life’ and starred in the big screen movie ‘House of Wax.’ Paris is the founder of Heiress Records and has released her first, self entitled debut album. She’s been seen traveling all over the world and even made an appearance for screaming Spring Breakers at a House of Wax movie premiere in Cancun along with her sister Nicky Hilton.
Born in fashionable New York City, Paris is the oldest of the four children to Richard and Kathy Hilton, making her heiress to the Hilton Hotel fortune. Paris, since birth has been no stranger to celebrity status. She has relation to child stars Kim Richards and Kyle Richards from the 1970’s, she is related by marriage to Nicole Richie’s godmother Nancy Davis, and of course she is the oldest grand daughter of the hotel chairman Barron Hilton and Marilyn Hawley. Paris attended Marywood-Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage, California, her freshman year of high school at Dwight School in New York and several other high schools before she eventually dropped out to get her GED.
Modeling Career
Paris began modeling as a child doing various charity events before she signed, at age 19, with Donald Trump’s modeling agency T Management. She worked in many different companies and on advertising campaigns including Iceberg Vodka, GUESS, Tommy Hilfiger and more. Being a native to New York and a young, rich, and beautiful girl, she gained popularity in the New York tabloids as “New York’s leading It Girl.”
Acting Career
Paris Hilton began her acting career when Fox offered her a “reality series” co-starring Nicole Richie, the adopted daughter of Lionel Richie, which was ironically titled The Simple Life. The concept of the show was to take the young, wealthy stars and place them in blue-collar labor situations across the country. Fox thought this plot would be the only way to “get back the success of the 1960’s sitcoms-to make the comedy happen for real.” The show lasted for three successful seasons on Fox and two seasons on E! until it was canceled. E! has plans to continue the reality series in the near future.
Paris also had a various amount of cameos in episodes of The O.C., The George Lopez show, Las Vegas, American Dreams, and more. She has been in many music videos and has had small roles in several films. She was featured as a supporting actress in the 2005 remake of House of Wax. She won several awards including “Best Scream” on the Teen Choice Awards as well as the nomination for “Choice Breakout Performance” at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards. Her first lead role was in 2006’s straight-to-DVD film National Lampoon’s Pledge This! She has future plans to be in several teen comedy films including The Hottie and the Nottie, and Repo! The Genetic Opera.
Music Career
Being a self-proclaimed fan of pop music and a friend of artist Britney Spears, Paris in 2004 decided to create her own record label called Heiress Records as an imprint of Warner Bros. Records. On this label she released her self-titled debut album, Paris featuring “The Stars are Blind.” The albums sales were low although it hit number six on the Billboard 200. The album got a mixed bag of reviews from music critics, but received mostly positive feedback. Paris has future plans to record with producer Scott Storch.
Writing Career
Among the many other things Paris has done, she also released a autobiographical book entitled "Confessions of a Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose", co-written by Merle Ginsberg. There was much controversy of the quality and credibility of the book due to the advance payment of $100,000 Hilton received to write it, but it eventually became a New York best seller.
