Biz Markie is a hip hop artist from Harlem, NY who has taken the title, ‘The Clown Prince of Hip Hop’ and is known for his humorous singles. He started his career in the early 80s as a performer and human beatbox for MC Shan and Roxanne Shante. In '89 Biz broke into the mainstream hip hop world with his hit single, ‘Just a Friend.’ The early 90s were filled with hard times for Biz, as he had to remain low-key for a while after a lawsuit filed for not clearing the samples he had used with the original artist before being released. In '93 he came back, however, with ‘All Samples Cleared’ and has continued to be successful. He has appeared on albums with Will Smith and the Beastie Boys, and played a rapping alien in the movie ‘Men in Black.’
