CollegeFest 2009
This past weekend StudentCity got together with Boston’s Biggest Back to School Party…CollegeFest, located at the Hynes Convention Center right here in Boston, MA. This city certainly knows how to make things happen, no one hosts a party this big and this entertaining like StudentCity’s hometown.
CollegeFest is known for it’s live performances like Jeremih and Talib Kweli (one of my faves), stage contests, celebrities, and free give-a-ways from the best brands out there. And as you can see, the pic on your right is MTV’s The Real World: Cancun’s Bronne representing StudentCity.com! As many agree, Bronne was a favorite on The Real World Cancun and we were extremely happy and excited that he was a part of our love for CollegeFest.
Over on your left you see a.) Bronne being a creeper as usual and b.) one of our staff giving this winning lady a voucher for a FREE SPRING BREAK!
This was only one of the many things we did while at CollegeFest. We also conducted many other different contests to win free trips to all our destinations and had Bronne master his signature for those avid Real World Cancun fans.
It was quite the fun-filled weekend. Jeremih performed Saturday with his “witty rhyme schemes” and sweet beats. Talib Kweli, one of my favorite hip-hop artists, rocked it on Sunday with an awesome performance of “top notch tracks,” amongst other performers such as Lansdowne and Hellogoodbye. Lansdowne opened for Jeremih, rockin as one of Mix 104.1’s best bands, and on Sunday Hellogoodbye opened Talib Kweli with the top 100 hit “Here in Your Arms.”

Real World Episode 7 Recap
Shit can get so complicated and just adding Cancun into the mix makes it one hundred times worse. I really can’t imagine being in all these situations and having it all be taped for the world to see. I know that I have made mistakes in life and yea, sometimes it takes me a few tries to get it right, but having people witness my mistakes and having to relive them through film, damn– that just tops it off. Life is filled with so many unexpected twists and turns and it takes time and many mistakes for people to realize that these changes in life are for the better in the end.
In relation to Jasmine and Pat, that shit as you can tell from MTV’s Episode 7 Recap is done for. (watch it before you read any further; it’s pretty entertaining!)
Jasmine is so right, I think she called it; screw Jonna, she sucks in this episode and I am sure she sucks even more in future episodes. She plays it off like she did nothing wrong; putting up this cool front or something. People can read through that bull; they aren’t stupid. In any situation like this, “Girl B” is always wrong. When Jonna was trying to stick up for herself trying to make herself look better and Jasmine calling her out about the part in the episode where she told Pat to follow her so he wouldn’t be near Jasmine is screwed up. If he’s a man he can handle it on his own, but apparently he isn’t, he’s too much of an asshole to let Jasmine know the real truth. Jasmine needs a man who knows what he wants and goes after it; a guy that can man up to it all. She needs someone who’s honest and is consistent. She’s a very strong, opinionated woman who just wants to be loved; but she needs to find a man who’s deserving. If you’re a Jasmine fan, definitely keep watching the episodes! Lots of stuff is going to happen in her world; lots more heartbreak in her stars, but you never know, she could come up on top. All I can say is, after watching the recap…screw Jonna and Pat, not worth wasting your breath.
Now that I’ve got that off my chest, I know what’s really on peoples brains; Joey getting kicked off the show. I know, I know, lame. I definitely agree that Joey is one of the better characters on the show. The man actually makes the show–so who knows whats going to happen now. (All I can think about now is someone else who hasn’t been in the spotlight will now get their turn; maybe Emilee, or Bronne? I hope Bronne gets more tape time, he’s the man). I know 100% that this was extremely hard for Christina. She hates knowing that this decision screwed up this amazing opportunity for him, but he is the one that f*cked up. The kid already got a second chance; to be honest, that was a blessing. If one of the other staff members behind the camera missed a shift; they would be on the next flight back to their hometown! I mean, in the beginning when everyone was together for orientation, they mentioned just because we’ve got The Real World cast working with us doesn’t mean they’d be getting special treatment! HAHA. That’s funny. I didn’t see anyone else partying it up behind the scenes with LMFAO. Screw that. Joey needed to go home to learn a lesson. And who’s to say he won’t show up later!? You never know. So don’t get your balls all twisted quite yet.

Episode 6 Recap
Just watched Episode 6, not too much drama this time around within the household. Kind of a nice change of pace I think. Seeing a different side of Jonna, a more in a sense ?irresponsible? Jonna was interesting, and a good change as well. Watching that episode actually got me a little frustrated. I wonder if she actually met this Kirk guy right after Matt left or if the editing made it that way. Whatever though. I seriously think if you were truly in love with your significant other, and that you were truly happy with yourself, you would not put yourself on this damn show. We all know what?s going to happen, just give it a little bit of time and I am sure everyone?s predictions will come true.
I think there were a lot of promiscuous hook ups in Cancun in general; not the right place to be without your loved one by your side. Mayo mentioned in this episode that people let go of their inhibitions and they truly just come out of their shell and he?s 110% correct. People totally let go of everything. Cancun is like a fairytale land; almost seems like anything is possible or that you can get away with murder. ?What happens in Cancun, stays in Cancun??NOT. We all know that Matt has nothing to worry about in regards to Cj because he has no game, but I dunno about this Kirk guy or any other football heart throb that comes her way. Believe me, there are a lot of them and they come in waves; every week there are new ones. Temptation is hard to resist. Plus, can you really blame her? Not that I am for cheating by any means, but I think Matt was driving her away with his insecurities. He seems like a really nice kid but a little too self conscious for Jonna.
About Joey’s situation, I want to call him a little pipsqueak, or rather, a little bastard; quite the jump I guess, maybe he?s both. I just want to smack him in the back of the head sometimes. Really boy– you need to learn some life skills. Listen to your mam! You may be good in the sack, but that can only get you so far. He should be eating up this opportunity; working in Cancun, getting paid, being filmed, waking up to the most beautiful scenery anyone has ever seen. Seems like the kid takes things for granted and he can?t see all the amazing things going on in front of him. Put your penis away and open your eyes to the world around you; and not just at some chicks “ass”ets. I?m actually quite surprised Christina didn?t kick him off the show; maybe that was MTV?s doing? Maybe she wanted to and they didn’t, or even vice versa. I know Christina has a soft spot for the guy, but he screwed up. I mean, what if it was an average Joe staff member who missed a shift and never called out sick– would they have gone home?
I find it odd though that not too much happened with Ayiiia in this episode except the beginning when she mentioned to Christina her frustrations with Cj and Joey. I know Christina was very happy that Ayiiia felt comfortable to come up to her and tell her what had been going on, but really it’s like any job; you gotta keep your private life away from your work life; another lesson to learn I guess.
On a side note; I wish Bronne was more in the drama than he has been. I actually really thought that he was going to be the biggest troublemaker in the group when I first met them all. I guess I was wrong. Although, the kid never really came up and talked to me at all; I wonder why. Maybe he?s just shy and that?s why he isn?t getting any. I dunno. I was totally wrong though and by watching the show, he has become my favorite cast member. It?s funny how people can look one way, and come to find out they are the total opposite.
In closing, I really want to mention what Mayo said when him, Jonna and a couple others were sitting at the Hard Rock Cafe. It’s so true, “people come to Cancun and lose their inhibitions.” They come out of their little shells and do things they never would do on any average day. You really find out a lot about yourself and what is important to you.
Some people learn and grow from this experience, and some well…never learn.
Cancun Excursion: Xel Ha

The Real World Recap Episode 5
What’s going on everyone? I hope you are enjoying these blog posts about the Real World as much as I am. This season has been crazy so far and Episode 5 just made it even better. Lots of drama happened this time around, even CJ’s “Piglet” was involved! Haha, poor guy. Anyway, I’m glad you got to see the StudentCity trip to Xel Ha. That place is absolutely beautiful and it definitely took them away from the drama for a bit. Be sure to check out Christina’s Real World recap video. She’s got some juicy details on the roommates that weren’t shown on camera.
Ok, so… does anybody else find CJ to be kind of fake sometimes? ?If it happens, it happens,? my ass. Come on man, you?re in Cancun! Of course you?re looking to get laid and of course you go after the one that you know will put-out. I mean, it?s not a bad thing, but don?t lie about it. He just started off on the wrong foot there. His desire to get some definitely cornered him into the whole meltdown. I actually think that Ayiiia didn?t instigate this time around. Cj was just looking for another excuse so he could actually man up and speak his mind this time around. It was all blown out of proportion. She was just sticking up for Emilee walking in on him and Amanda. Ayiiia?s only problem is she needs to learn how to keep her mouth shut. People feel invincible when they’re drunk. It?s a jungle in The Real World house.
Ayiiia feels like she?s an outcast. She?s always the center of controversy because she?s very straight-forward and can come across as a bitch. I think she brings it on herself sometimes. I agree with Jonna. Ayiiia just needs someone to listen, but how much of that can you take? She has got to change in that house or other terrible things are going to happen. Her cutting is a real issue. It?s definitely F’d up that the other roommates thought it was funny and laughed at her problem. Maybe Joey needs some help too. Why do you find a sense of accomplishment in causing other people?s pain?
I loved the whole Jasmine/Pat combination in the beginning. It’s corny but I it?s definitely a relief from all the drama. Unfortunately, it doesn?t seem like that will be existing much longer. Crushes like this usually ends in “unhappily ever after,” especially after the text message from Amanda. And with the high five at the end of the ?date,? he?s definitely playing her. Joey is right and I love that he has a soft spot for her despite his screwed up ways.
When Ayiiia cuts her foot on the glass door…I thought that was pretty scary. But Joey acting like a total ass to her face? Low man. Low. For a while there I was on Joey?s side, but there are certain points where Joey goes too far. And WTF Bronne!? Laughing about it? Man up and tell the fool he was wrong!
It seems like Ayiiia in the end comes to accept her consequences? and hopefully lives up to her tattoo’s message of ?Live & Learn.? I think it?s a great message, but don’t be a poser. Live up to it. I guess we’ll find out in the next few episodes if she can hack it. So stay tuned for next week!

Parts of this episode are absolutely hysterical. I mean, CJ’s boy-ish crush on Jacqueline was quite amusing. The note of wanting to go out on a date with her was cute; but seriously, this boy doesn’t have any game. “What about asparagus? Your pee is going to smell after eating it, but hey.” And what about the airplane; she felt like a “baby,” “Muy Funnio.” Baahahaha. Joey though, he’s got game. Treats women like dirt, but they love him anyway. He knows how to work it. Although, CJ did mention he’s a heartless romantic,” not too sure what that means but Joey did mention his hook-up of the week was like “two hearts beating as one.”And you know, we did see a more softer side of Joey when his grandmother passed away. Shows he does care and is family oriented; girls are going to love him even more. I bet he?s turning down women post Cancun. Bronne’s game on the other hand is nonexistent–the dude doesn’t even try. I like that about him though. I live my life “if it happens, it happens;” seems like Bronne and I are taking the path less traveled. I don’t know though, maybe the show isn’t giving him enough credit. His whole “reel her in, reel her in…seal the deal, seal the deal” was quite amusing. I’m sure the ladies love it; especially the ones that look for a good laugh.
On a more serious note, StudentCity was truly represented..FINALLY in this episode, with the orientation and all the other staff members present. Brian and his speech about setting goals in life and how to treat one another was very informative and inspiring. Jonna, Emilee and a few others saw it as that too which I think is a good thing; maybe it will make this dramafest a little less exhausting to watch. Although, Joey did mention on his ride back from Boston that he is not going to hold anything back anymore. He’s apparently tired of holding his tongue. What do think is going to happen next?
Ok so… Who’s loving the episodes they’ve seen so far? Enough drama for you? Too much drama possibly? Are you looking for more love quandaries? More sex? Tell me what you think! Real World Cancun?s Ayiiia
So episode 3?all I can say is wow! It sure does seem like fights between the roommates and Ayiiia will continue; to be honest, doesn’t look like it’s going to stop unless Ayiiia does something real dumb, goes out of control and gets kicked off the show, but we’ll see.
We had an interview with Ayiiia recently. We were curious to see how she truly felt about being on The Real World and what it was like to be in Cancun with StudentCity. It’s kind of hard to believe how sane she is off MTV cameras.
Ayiiia on being the “villain”
“The second episode just got done airing about 40 minutes ago here on the West Coast & a lot of you seem a little shocked to find out that I’m turning out to be the ‘bitch’ of the house. Am i ok with being the ‘bitch’… eh, it’s all right… definitely exciting but every season has to have a villain and I have chosen to take that role 
to entertain all of you. It’s a dirty job bu somebody’s gotta do it.”
“AM i being real when I act this way? Oh absolutely, every emotion every bitter fucking moment on this show is real… was it the best way to react? Of course not… but i have learned from what I’ve done and that’s what this experience is all about. I’ll never get tired of saying that but when you ARE on my bad side… I’m a fucking bitch, which if ANY of you guys deny… it’s bullshit. We’re all assholes to those we don’t like but I have moved on ”
“Let’s begin shall we. And let’s start with the BIGGEST controversy on the second episode… Mr. Joey spitting on my delicious tacos. There’s things i need to say in order to defend myself because as you all know… TV does NOT show it all. So when I was ‘whining’ and asking for my cigarette… I was asking Bronne because he took it from me while dancing in the club and exiting… and i specifically said ‘bron dont finish it, it’s my last one’ and he said ok ok… so while they were looking for someone [which i didn't even know they were doing] I’m asking Bronne where my cig is and thats when Joey butted in and told me to shut up… alright, cool… strike one… Ayiiia let it go… so I did. Now we’re walking to the bus and the entire time Joey is telling me to shut up and decides to throw his cigarette butt at my back which indeed DOES burn me… so then i decide to throw out the infamous ‘herpes on your lip’ yell. Sorry dude, didn’t mean for it to get to you THAT bad… I was drunk and had a cigarette thrown on me lol. THEN, when Emilee and I are minding our own business ordering tacos for almost half of our roommates Joey comes and tries to instigate some MORE shit… are you serious? so when i decide to get up and move aside, he puts his FOOT out to try to trip me… dude COME ON! so then thats when we get into our tif and i decide to let out my anger the only way I know how… by punching a wall and destroying my knuckles. ouch.”
“Should I have said what I said to Joey no… i really shouldn’t have but understand the fact that this happened the first two weeks… he stepped on my toes almost every day because we simply just didn’t GET each other. And both having such dominating personalities, it’s no surprise that we clashed… I do admit that I should of handled it a different way but you know what, what happened, happened and there’s nothing else i can do about it… but change.”
“Joey’s guitar being destroyed was NOT my intention while throwing the water on him but once again he went out there and brought it upon himself and he understood that, which i give him total props for. If i would have seriously known that throwing water on it would have ruined it, i would have never even attempted but it was in the heat of the moment and all I wanted was for him to leave us alone. My bad on ruining his guitar.”
“I feel like this isn’t explaining enough but I am very tired and if you have questions… post here and I will update this note in order to answer some of your REAL questions.”

The Real World Episode 2 and a little MJ
So a lot has been going down this past week in the news. Well really, a lot of MJ. It’s getting a little ridiculous. I mean, I understand the whole “OMG the King of Pop died!” but the thought of it being crazy is silly–I mean, the legitimacy of it all, not a shocker. Let?s get real. His life was so F’d up from the moment he became a little musical prodigy.
I get that he was an unbelievable performer; his music, his dance moves, his image. All that will never be forgotten. He’s a frickin’ legend! But seriously, does he really need to be on the news 24/7? There are more important things in the world. I mean, poor Farrah Fawcett, she deserves a little more recognition. And yea, the tragedy of Billy Mayes, now THAT is a complete shock! That dude was an American icon! He seemed like a pretty normal dude, except for the whole yelling in his infomercials thing. MJ’s life never seemed normal, and this whole fiasco is just another addition to his story.
Okay enough about that. You guys have heard the whole thing I am sure; I just wanted to supply my two cents, a cheap two cents, but whatever.
Obligatory Real World Drama
In other news, well in StudentCity’s world, MTV’s The Real World episode two was just aired last night. Gah! So different from last weeks premier episode! I absolutely loved it! There was less “awwwww’s” and more of, “Are you serious?” moments. Perfect. I thrive off of watching other people?s drama. I mean, as long as I am in the corner watching; I can’t be involved in that bull; But yea, Joey and Ayiiia half-way though the episode, absolutely hysterical! Spitting in her tacos, what was he thinking!? Those tacos are so god damn good, I would have punched a wall too! Believe me; I know from firsthand experience how good those tacos are.
Well, anything is good when it’s 4 in the morning and you are absolutely hammered drunk. But that’s besides the point. The only thing I wasn’t too pleased about was the two of them apologizing to each other and letting the feud fade. Yea it’s sweet and everything and I probably would have done the same if it was my life being taped, but it would have been cool to see them brawl out one more time. Who knows though… it could happen again, or I mean, Joey or Ayiiia could find a new friend to antagonize with. It’s all up in the air right now, just a show filled with surprises.
And what about Jonna and Cj? Seems like those two haven’t quite settled in on just being friends that “like to cuddle.” It just doesn’t seem like that’s going to be a possibility. Someone’s heart is going to be broken and it’s not going to be theirs. I can tell. As I am sure you all can too. It’s just funny how Derek stuck up for her in the beginning. He was so adamant that nothing was going to happen between Jonna and her BF because they are “in love.” I get that it’s in his nature to have felt that way, but now, I think the whole idea of Jonna needing a knight in shining armor has finally taken over in his brain. And if that’s Cj, well then, so be it. But I should stop making assumptions; we’ll find out soon enough.
Christina the “Boss Lady”
How about that Christina!? What a little firecracker she is! Yea, yea, I know… she is quite a good looking gal. But just you wait till all the staff is there (definitely a bunch of lookers). What about the bright red t-shirt that she was wearing? — and sooner or later, you’ll be checking out the “Big Red Machine” (aka, the bunch of good looking people I just mentioned) on your TV too! So make sure to keep watching the episodes Wednesday nights! Especially if you’ve traveled with StudentCity, or you’ve been to Cancun–it’s so ridiculous to be like, “Oh sh*t! I’ve been there!” or “Hey! I know that guy!”
