I just got back from South Padre today and it was incredible! Even though it was a 24 hour drive it was so worth it. I stayed at the Howard Johnson hotel and it was in a great spot for the clubs. It was right next to Chaos and Tequila Frogs, and was only a few blocks away from Louie's.It was a convenient location and it was great to be able to hang out with friends on the beach and meet other spring breakers.
I just got back from South Padre Island, and I have to say it was AMAZING!! We stayed at the Bahia Mar Resort which was full of eager college students which made the trip more fun. The group I was with purchased the city pass from Studentcity which us a ton of money in the end because the bar covers are pretty expensive. The places to be in Padre are Louie's, Choas, and Tequlia Frogs or anywhere that studentcity will be beacause they bring the party with them. Studentcity brought DJ Scribble to a couple clubs and tore it up. All in all, everyone I was with had a great time and we would definately go back to Padre and travel with Studentcity!!!!!
I went to Padre, Island over last spring break of 2007. Yes I got to see a few celebritys such as Dj Unk and the Bowling for soup. The atmosphere was Great lots of drunk people roaming the streets, but don't get it twisted the girls are snobs and the clubs close at 3am at the lastest. Some hotels wont even let you in if you don't have a pass so if there are parties that you were invited to you better have a way to get through their security. When i went down there i was expecting to party all night long leaving my cares behind, but ended up going to bed early on some nights. The beach is nice and very lineant. I recommend bringing and entourage if you do go just in case you have a lonely night.
South Padre Island is a 5 mile strip of bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, condos, and souvenier shops. During spring break, the island caters specifically to spring breakers. If you are looking for something different than Acapulco or Cancun, or want to stay in the U.S. Padre is the place. Being that Padre is in the U.S., 18+ to party, 21+ to drink, but that does not stop the 30,000+ spring breakers each year from coming to party every year for spring break!

Top Spring Break Hotel/Condo Accomodations: Bahia Mar Resort, Saida/Royale Resort Complex, Padre South
Top Spring Break Bars/Clubs: Louies Backyard, Club Chaos, Tequila Frogs

Past Spring Break Performances By: Akon, Mims, Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Mike Jones, Hinder, Vanilla Ice, D12, and more!

Kegs On the Beach! Need I say more?
South Padre Island is awesome if your looking for a laid back atmosphere, drinking all day on the beach and amazing concerts!! Theres no dress code in Padre like there is in Acapulco, you can wear your bathing suit all day and night if you want to! I stayed at the Padre South hotel when i was down there, the staff there is awesome, very welcoming to studentsss, and this hotel is in perfect walking distance from all the bars and night events!! SPLURGE on dinner one night and eat at De Luna!! by far one of the best meals i have ever eaten!
SPI is like PCB but on another level... I give it two thumbs up and one good hangover! Louie's is dope has great food and you can watch the NCAAs at the bar upstairs. Oh man they have these drinks in these big-ass cups 3 and your doing great.
If you show up in Padre expecting Cancun, well, you're going to be disappointed. The bars/clubs close at 2am, so the nightlife isn't quite on the same level as other destinations. The sand isn't pearly white, and the cops are pretty hardcore about cracking down on underage drinking. So why would anyone go to Padre in the first place?

Five Words: Coke Beach on Texas Week(3/8/2008).

Sometimes they call it Sprite Beach, or Full Throttle Beach, but it's the same thing: 20,000+ breakers on a small strip of sand partying their faces off. Kegs (legal on the beach in Padre), school flags, all manner of craziness... it's like every frat-party and bush-bash you've ever been to combined into one, that just happens to be taking place on a beach with low 80s weather and clear skies. Also not to be discounted is the hotel party scene here... I've seen 100-person games of flip-cup in hotel lobbies.

Padre's also got one of the better concert line-ups of all destinations where live music is concerned. Louie's Backyard brings in artists most nights in March, and past years have seen Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Ludacris, and tons of others.

So while it's not going to have the glamour of a Cancun or Acapulco (forget dress codes in Padre, showing up in a t-shirt and sandals is common), it does have one thing in spades: wild and crazy parties. It's also extremely affordable, so, if you're looking for a no-frills break that delivers the goods, Padre is definitely a solid choice.
